Our little one has a name

A big thank you from Luk Chai, and his Keepers

We'd like to say a big thanks to everybody who suggested a name for our little one. The response was overwhelming with over 30,000 entries, and so many terrific suggestions. Picking a winner wasn't easy, believe us!

In the end, we thought Luk Chai was a great fit. Like every elephant in our herd, Luk Chai is a Thai name and means 'son'. He represents a successful start to our conservation program for his endangered species.

The winning entry was suggested by the Blayney family from Jannali who will soon be experiencing elephant conservation efforts on the ground at the Lampang Elephant Conservation Centre in Thailand.

That's not all, the runners-up will also receive a Zoo Friends Annual Membership for 2 adults.

Luk Chai continues to grow and like all young boys, he loves to kick his new ball and wallow in the mud. While he needs his rest, we'd be delighted if you came to the Zoo to say hello to him.
